The USN and USMC leased a couple dozen as F-21A Lions for Ag gressor squadrons during the late Eighties: VF-43 out of NAS Oceana and VMFT-401 in Yuma. They were used to simulate MiG-21s and -23s

Cool. My aunt & uncle eventually got moved to VA Beach (he was a doc in the Navy), but not until the 90s. Did get to see Hogs on the wing while they were stationed in Charleston SC though.

Huh, that Tomcat was used as an engine mule too. Guess that explains the GE logo on the engine nacelle .

I’m still bummed they put the Space Shuttle tent on the carrier, and not down below on the pier. Looks silly to me...
